Five centuries of history ...

The Château de la Berchère is a reflection of the history of France.
Originally built as a fort to guard against medieval invasions, it underwent substantial ornamentation during the 16th and 17th centuries in accordance with the tastes of its owners, the various Dukes of Bergundy.

In the late 18th century, it fell victim to the revolution and was sold off as a national asset.
It was also the scene of an episode of the battle of 1870, before being occupied during World War II.
More recently, in the 1980s, the chateau was renovated by J-C Massart and converted into a hotel.
